DARK: A review about your life with german series

What if we could actually time travel? Is it ever possible to take over the law of time? What if things in the past or future can be undone or corrected? Imagine your worst decision of life and you traveling back to that particular time and changing your decision. Would your life in the present be the same? What if not only your past but also the future influences your present? What if the parallel universe does actually exist? (It is the other universe where your life is moving in an alternate direction. For example, I have written this article and as a  result, you are able to read this article, but somewhere in another universe I have never decided to write this article and also you might not have decided to read this article.). Does reincarnation take place? Is there a  life after death? What if the earth stops rotating or get pause for just 1 second? What if everything till now is just a dream and then you suddenly wake up? Isn’t it amazing?

Time travel can be understood in many different ways as it has never happened before. But simply it can  be understood in two possible ways:

(1) You can time travel to the past or future only in your dream layer i.e. you will be able to see the events that occurred in the past or in the future but cannot change their order.

(2) You can time travel to the back or future in your real-life and can change the sequence of events so that it actually influence your present.

Okay! Let us deal with case 2 as it will be more impossible and interesting as even if single second in the past changes, there will be infinite consequences in present and the world would be totally different.

Have you ever heard of grandfather paradox? If not, then imagine this, you traveled 66 years back when your grandfather was just a kid and then you accidentally killed your grandfather before he gets married to your grandmother. If so happens then your father would have never been born and similarly, there will be no existence of yours in the earth. But if you never existed how can you travel back to kill your grandfather?

Actually, it becomes very complicated if we try to understand this paradox with logic. But actually, nothing is impossible. There are different theories developed in the modern world which actually shows that time travel can actually be possible. Leonard Vinci also thought an idea of flying in the air even though it seemed impossible in that era but just after 400 years of this period, the first flight in the air became successful. Similarly, how did people feel the first time they were told the Earth was round? How weird it must have sounded when someone said that one’s voice could be heard by others in a different part of Earth. So who knows? Time travel might actually be possible in the near future.

The main theme of this series ‘DARK’ is everything in our life is connected. You and me living in same generation, we know each other, me watching this series and writing this article, you reading this article, you have random thoughts about me, etc...Why it has to happen in this particular way and not another way? It might be because everything is interconnected, all our lives are connected, one fate is bound to another, every one of our deeds is merely a response to previous deed-simply cause and effect nothing but an endless dance. There are no coincidences. Every path is determined. Everything happens when it is supposed to at the right time and in the right place. And there are moments when we understand that the decision we make influence more than just our own fate, it’s about everyone. But who decides about the purpose? Coincidence? God? Or is it us?

In this series, in a village of Germany named Winden, there are 4 different families and 5 generations of each family is shown so, there are so many characters that it might lead to a very complicate understanding if I start explaining all these characters in this short article, however main concept of this series can be explained.

Our thinking has always been shaped by dualism-entrance, exist, black, white, life, death, happiness, sadness, good, evil etc…everything appears as opposite pairs. But wait have you ever heard of triquetra(triplet)? But nothing is complete without a third dimension. For instance, there isn’t only up and down there is a center too from where you can see both up and down, there is a state where we can feel both happy and sad,  there are humans who are both devil and god, etc…

Exactly, in the same way, there is a present from where both past and future can be related. You are you today because of the past deeds you have done. Similarly, the future can also be related to the past. For an instant, you have already married someone in the future so your present is moving in such a way that it will obviously take you towards that girl/boy. So no matter how hard you try to change the order of these things it will happen in the same  way as it was preplanned and will not affect the order of events in the future. Another example can be, suppose you knew that you will be dead in 5 years and the cause of your death will be a bike accident. So even if you decide not to ride a bike and walk along roadside other bike riders might accidentally hit you and you might be dead. Thus, it can be said that the order of events happening today is the cause of the incident for tomorrow and it can never be changed.

It has also tried to explain “Time Paradox” in a very easy way. Time paradox is actually a close time loop that never gets end and has no origin point. In fact, the beginning is the end and the end is the beginning. For example, there is no answer for paradox, if chicken existed first or egg existed first. It is simply a paradox  but if we try to understand this with logic, we will never get any solution. It is the condition where starting and ending points are the same and as a result, our brain gets trap inside a close loop where there is no exit point and thus will not be able to find any solution. Another example might be, if we try to escape from one point of Earth, no matter how hard we try we will finally reach the same point and so on. Hence, there is no exit point. Different time paradoxes for different characters are shown but let me explain only two-time loops. In  Winden village, a nuclear plant was established. Some error in this plant leads to the formation of wormhole  loop in the cave. Anyone traveling through this hole with the help of a time machine can travel into the past or future. Jonas is the main character in the series. In 21 JUNE 2019, Johan’s father Miachel committed suicide, leaving a letter where he clearly mentioned not to open the letter before 10:13 P.M. of 4th November  2019. And just before opening the letter in 10:13 P.M., Jonas's girlfriend’s(Martha)brother gets lost in the cave which leads him to time travel back to the year 1986(33 years before). Also, Johan after time traveling to  1986 finds out that Mikkel is actually his father Michael. So it can be said that Michael in 2019 has to sacrifice himself in order to turn Mikkel into Miachel back in 1986. And after 33 years in 1986, Michael again attempts suicide by writing the letter and Mikkel again gets lost in the cave just before opening the letter. And thus a close loop is created which gets repeated over and over again. If anything happens in the wrong order whole loop gets destroyed and no one knows it’s the aftereffect. But everything happens in the same order either in a wanted or unwanted way. So even if characters try to change things it actually happens in the exact  same manner as everything was already planned. Later all characters will find that they are trapped in a  never-ending time loop that has no origin. Also, Jonas then realized that he was actually dating his own aunt (Martha).

Also, Charlet’s daughter is Elizabeth in 2019 and Charlet’s mother is also Elizabeth in 1986. Hence Elizabeth is a mother as well as a daughter but point to be noticed is that both cannot exist at the same time i.e. Elizabeth as a mother should be dead in order to exist as a daughter. Is there ever a possibility that someone’s mother and daughter could be the same? DEJAVU!!!

It is shown that every loop will continue for 33 years until all incidences get exactly repeated the same as before. But why 33? In fact, there is a logic that in every 33 years, the position of all the planets and stars are same as before, lunar and solar cycles match each other, Jesus Christ died in 33 years of age, he performed 33 miracles, there are 33 litanies of the angels, 33 is the age the anti-christ began his rule, etc…  

Besides these paradoxes, many life-related theories, illusions, philosophies are also well explained here. Some of the mine favorites are:-

(1) Master Zhugan’s Paradox: I dreamt I was a butterfly. Now I have woken up I have realized I am no longer a butterfly but a human being. But what if actually, I am a butterfly who is dreaming that I am a human being? So, who am I? A person or butterfly.

(2) Time is an infinite field, millions and millions of interlocking wheels.

(3) We have to be patient to be victorious.

(4) How do we know what’s right and wrong? The answer is simple, by listening to our inner voice and choosing not to follow anyone but ourselves.

(5) Ten people who see an elephant from ten different angles will give you ten different descriptions but a single person who looks at the same elephant from all ten different perspectives instead will be able to piece together all of his observations.

(6) Expectations lead to disappointment. So my mother says have hope, not expectations.

(7) If you were truly free you would have a choice, do you have a choice?

(8) You and I are perfect for each other. Never believe anything else.

(9) In the end, life is just a collection of missed opportunities.

(10)There are moments that change us forever, there is a pain you never forget, but there is also a way that leads out of all this grave some, senseless futility.

(11) The future belongs to the bold, not to the doubters who are stuck forever in the past.

(12) What we know is a drop. What we don’t know is an ocean.

(13) God has a plan for every human being.

(14) Death is incomprehensible, but you can make peace with it. Till then each day you should ask yourself if you have made the right decisions.

(15) She said all is forgiven but nothing is forgotten.

(16) The truth is a strange thing. You can try to suppress it, but it will always find its way back to the surface.

(17) We make a lie into our own truth, in order to survive.

(18) We are wanderers in the darkness. We don’t know even half of the mysteries of the world.

(19)Every decision for something is a decision against something else,

(20)You can never give up hope.

(21) There is much light out there as there is darkness.

(22) We only obey the laws of nature. We are nothing but slaves of space and time.

Somehow, we can relate all these theories in real life. Here, no characters are presented as a negative  or positive character. All characters have some kind of contribution to the loop that has been created. We can find an answer to many questions that we have been asking ourselves for a long time. It has provided many deep concepts and thoughts. There is no way that anyone might get bored as it directly connects your soul and take you to the mysterious journey of life.
