My mother woke up at 4 in the cold morning. She cleaned the house and then started making food for the day. After letting us eat the food she did the dishes and then went to work. She is a “working mom”.
Although the tide has changed, the concept of equality has arrived, and yes women are taught like men and are even allowed to work outside the house as men do. However, still, the household chores are to be done by the women of the house. They are also expected to look after their babies like earlier times. So, in modern times women are working more than ever before.
Understandably, not all family can hire a servant or maid for household works. However, not all family are economically stable for that. Furthermore, the works done by the maids may not be pleasing as well.
It is important to note down the economic support the women can provide to the household. The inflation has taken a toil on the general public. Therefore, it is the case of more the merrier people earning money in a house. Similarly, more money means a better life and the couple can provide a better life for their offspring.
“Mom, do you want me to do the dishes?” I asked after I finished eating. And her reply was “You don’t worry, I will do it!” Yes, she usually does it but time and again I ask her to know if she is tired and want a helping hand.
Today, we talk about gender equality, and we expect the women to do all the household chores. As women are helping men economically, the men must help her domestically. And when I say this it does not mean men have to leave their work, stay at home and do all the household work. However, it would be better if they can provide a hand to their companion, for example: cook an evening or do the dishes a day.
