Why is a girl raped?

A normal girl life cycle will give millions of reasons on why a girl is raped everyday.

Birth : As misinterpreted by many religious scholars regarding religious texts, birth of a son in the family is the fruit of good deeds. They shall continue to keep the heir to continue family chronology and legacy forward.  It is considered that it’s the mother’s fault for not giving birth to a son though all the female has ''XX” chromosome and the male is the one who has to give ''XY'' chromosome to female for the birth of a son. If she becomes unsuccessful in bearing a son, god knows, countless births are waiting, domestic violence, stereotypical disgusts on passing by, mental tortures. Probably the first question every mother asks, ‘’What is the child, is it the boy or girl?’’ And if it is the girl, ‘’abortion’’ is the easy option.

0-5 years : A girl is made familiar with the culture that places the onus of women’s safety on women’s behaviour. Her younger brother is expected to study hard in a prestigious school with highest possible expense on education. He is privileged with calculators, cycles, football etc. that might be useful for his future skills. A girl is expected to wear pink, take less risky games like playing with barbies and miniature utensils. She is taught to smile silently, dress decently, and cook. The idea that the son gets when his father slaps when his mother was a bit late to give his father a mobile that he left in the room. He understands male has power to rape, to beat, to kill.

5-10 years: She is taught to normalize rape and sexual violence. Different social institutions considering family disgrace suppress the crime leans toward demeaning women's identity and dignity and not thriving to restore it. More than the curriculum, she knows ‘human trafficking’, ‘rape’, ‘acid attacks’ etc. Societal stigmas related to rape are also the major reason why the cases go unreported and unattended. She should choose the profession as girls are expected to.

A boy is taught that having penis is enough to make a man. Women are taught to keep up the family’s prestige whereas a boy is never taught to preserve another home’s prestige.

10-14 years : With all the lodgement of actions, activities and values and roles seen in the family and society in a subconscious mind. The cinemas, advertisement, infiltrated values in the subconscious mind about ‘’Sexual and Reproductive Health Education’’ in conscious mind holds more power in influencing many activities. Only ‘’sisters’’ and ‘’mothers’’ are to be kept safe, all other women want it.  A rapist has justification to his act with reasons because he is being taught with unconstrained sexual urge combined with objectification of women driven by patriarchal society whose root banks on silence of women, misogyny, toxic masculinity and a constant probe on opportunities to manifest and impose these values to assert dominance and spiritual satisfaction is the one to blame. He is thrilled that not perpetrators but the victims are put in prison or boycotted in the society along with the traumas.

14-30 years : The only way to have social status among male peers in many cases is to be highly sexually experienced, not being sexually active is often stigmatized. If a girl says, ‘’No’’, she means she is just playing around or challenging you. As a teenager, he learns rape jokes, sexist attitudes, non-consensual photography, Locker room talks, revenge porn, groping, catcalling, stalking.

30-counting years: A mother is forced to leave her job to take care of the family. Women are taught a lot of compromises. Irony is that  "educated but not internalized" " empowered but not esteemed" "economic growth but no mentality growth" and omnipresent patriarchy repels the drivers of anti-social evils. Wholesome parenting style and family values on the role, dignity and status of women rapes the woman’s identity. You can’t see woman’s consent in any life decision, which brings bigger picture of non-consensual sex act as ‘’Rape’’.

What has the patriarchy social system taught us? ‘’You are a man, so you rape.’’ Alas! I am looking forward to seeing a ‘Human in a mere man’.
